Crain’s Detroit Business features St. Clair County
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Crain’s Detroit Business to host economic development event focused on St. Clair County
Event is the first in a series that will be held in locations throughout Michigan
DETROIT – For the first time in the publication’s history, Crain’s Detroit Business will produce Crain’s NEXT: St. Clair County, an event that dissects the impact of economic forces on the county and its communities. Because similar influences can be seen across the state, Crain’s will also host three additional events in Flint, Grand Rapids and Traverse City.
St. Clair County is oft defined by its water: the St. Clair River and its gateway to the expanse of Lake Huron. The event will, specifically, look at how the region is using its “Blue Water brand” to solve its central economic challenges: creating, keeping and attracting talent and the loss of large employers. This theme will be explored through a series of profiles of companies and efforts that are finding success in the region.
The event will also feature three panels, with local business figures serving as speakers. Some of those individuals include: St. Clair County Commissioner Jeff Bohm; Kathy Vertin, owner of Marine City’s Riverbank and Snug Theatres; and Kelly Wolgamott, director of marketing for Pure Michigan. “We often talk about disruption as it relates to corporations and institutions, but municipalities and counties also experience tumultuous times as a result of change,” said Ron Fournier, publisher of Crain’s Detroit Business.
“This event will be forward-thinking and provide St. Clair County’s leaders, residents, businesses and stakeholders the opportunity to take a good look at what’s next for the county.”
More than 150 attendees are expected at Crain’s NEXT: St. Clair County. It’s slated to take place on Thursday, February 15 at the Blue Water Convention Center in Port Huron. Those interested in purchasing tickets can visit www.crainsdetroit.com/NEXT.
